JB. I agree with Silvertop - we are no closer now then when Skycrash was published. Lots of theories but nothing that has been discussed thus far comes even close to what you saw. Even reading the description of events and the witness statements shown elsewhere on this site, shows we are miles off the mark with what has been proposed to date.
The area certainly seems to have a history of odd lights being seen, plus ghostly apparitions, highly classified tests involving radars and devices for atomic weapons - not to mention the amount of unexploded ordnance at one time buried in the sands of the 'ness. Then there's the strange happenings in WW2 at Shingle Street, Soviet agents [allegedly] active from a base in Kings Lynn, the shipwreck or two on the ness, A10's being flown off to forward bases in Germany in response to an increased alert. And if that wasn't enough there was the IRA waiting to have a pop, CND lurking around, very popular sci-fi films being shown and - I believe but please accept my sincerest apologies if I am wrong - a major drugs bust at the bases! Add to that a memo written a week or so later that comes to light in what might be best described as unusual circumstances. Not to mention the apparently unscheduled arrival of a huge C-5 transport that parks up in a secluded area with its own security, the Cosmos re-entry, meteors, umpteen satellites burning up (six I think) and of course, the Orfordness lighthouse and the Shipwash lightship! Heck, there's just too much stuff.....
You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time (Winston Churchill)...causa latet, vis est notissima
