The 67th Para-rescue Sqd

Postby Observer » Sat Oct 31, 2009 2:00 pm

Hi all

I'm back after a long break and while off forum i met up with an old buddy of mine who was a ARRS crew Chief on duty at Woody during Christmas 1980. I along with another member of this forum had a long chat with my pal over a pint in a local pub and this is what he had to say. He has asked me not to mention his name.

"We had an unscheduled event that had to be kept out of the publics eyes and our troops. The 67th Para-rescue [PJ's] used some of their new 'toys' [Special equipment] to put people off the scent and make them think a UFO had landed, it worked because Halt and his men bought it. "The 67th could make you look in one direction while they were doing stuff in another, they were masters of deception". "After Christmas the PJ's were all walking round with big grins on their faces especially in the mess hall". "They won't tell you what happened exactly because many of their tactics and equipment are classified.
"I will give you a little clue, the 67th had a powered hang glider and the wings were sort of triangular/Bat shaped. They wanted to use it at night to test their night vision goggles and other eqipment, Christmas was chosen because there was no flying.
"The 67th had a pre Christmas party which the SP's tried to wreck and it got so heated that a senior Officer had to be called to cool things down, PJ's never forget so we did a pay back on them".

Thats it, i'm saying no more, you can figure it out for your selves.

The reason you can't say no more is maybe you were not the one who the story was told to! I received a E-mail from somebody else on the forum who was the one who was told the story at the pub! He said the story was interesting but full of holes and he didnot beleive what he was saying happened! In saying this the 2 things stand out! 1. You keeping using the 67th on this forum but the sources you use never come on it and tell there story and answer question's and there is always a excuse why! 2. You hit and run never even standing up to what you have to say! The 67th keeps poping up in this story and they may very well have been involved in some way! If they were the equipment they were using would be declassified by now! I know they were involved in the forrest M-W time frame after the incident happened. Have someone come forword and produce the evidence that this is what happened. That's it I'm saying no more until you once again come up with one of your 67th BS stories!! Update I was just contacted by that person who sent me the E-mail and he stated you were the one who invited him there. The funney thing is this guy was a crew chief which means he worked on the aircraft and was not involved in any kind of special ops mission! Have him come forword talk about what happened show me some proof! What happened to us was not some kind of glider flying around!!!

Hi John,
The best I have on that was a chat and a coffee I had with Halt about twenty years ago, after he gave a presentation to Quest (before it became ufo magazine/quest international) ... I asked him that very question - all he would say was that ' something had been tracked on radar approaching from the North Sea' ... having just hung up my flying gloves a couple of years earlier, I was a bit stunned at that ... and pushed him further, pointing out that it was our requirement to provide air defence for them, so why weren't we scrambled - as this would be an unknown approaching fron the direction of the soviet block? ... he wouldn't answer that. The feeling I had from his non-response was that they knew full well what it was and may even have expected it.
No more do I know on that one,
regards,
Win.

Thanks! Are you sure he was talking about his night? Can anybody add to that this is important! Did Halt ever say anything about this at a conferance or anywhere in any of the books that have been writen?
