I have looked at your video several times and the trail looks to be travelling quite fast especially when you see it pass behind some tree branches. If this flying object was high enough to cause a vapour trail then from past sightings of air liner trails which do travel slower than your video depicts, it could point to one of the new US stealth aircraft such as Aurora. However, you would have heard a deep rumble due to its pulse jet propulsion system. Did you hear any noise?
The way the whole trail just vanishes looks just like the 'Fade and Disolve'
technique used by cameramen in the film industry! I am not doubting your observations but i have seen this technique done many times.
I have also seen trails stop as the aircraft loses altitude, but the remaining trail that it made lingers on for ages.

I suggest you ask your friend for an account of what he did to bring out this 'colour invert' image. I'm sure others will want to try and replicate this.
