Sunday night was in fact the finale of the Glastonbury Festival, also in Somerset

Therefore,

a) it was something associated with the festival (a helicopter or a spaced-out festival goer ascending into the stratosphere)

or

b) music-loving ETs popped in to catch that fine closing performance by The Verve on the pyramid stage....

Sounds similar to the case on the TV the other day where a commercial pilot from Southampton saw a similar bright ufo over the channel isles. He was one of the regular pilots from Southampton airport to Channel Isles and saw a bright light ufo. He had flown this route for years and saw nothing similar. Ground staff commented he was shaken when he got to the airport in Channel Isles. This was a recent sighting and other passengers saw something.
Being a commercial pilot it a steady very short haul job, I very much doubt he would make anything up and sighting in conjuction with other bright UFOs recently has to be taken seriuosly.

I live in Somerset not far from Glastonbury. There has been a significant increase in UFO sightings in the area since early May. Like the mid 1990s it seems to have become a bit of a hotspot again.

I suspect that the UFO sightings in this part of the country including Glastonbury and its reputation as a UFO hot spot has more to do with the people who live in or visit the region rather than any thing else.

The airline pilot from Southampton spotted a bright glowing UFo above channel isles and reported it last year. He has flown this route for years and saw nothing ever similar. He looked like he had seen a "ghost" according to ground staff and an ex island MP and his wife were witness to the events.
I think before we dismiss bright glowing Ufo reports as nothing we have to give credence to the calibre of the witnesses
