FOO-FIGHTER DOCUMENTS
09-September-1998 The text of several official documents mentioning Foo-Fighters and Foo-Fighter-like phenomena are presented here.
Major Bob Johnson, 24, of the 81st Fighter Bomber Squadron spoke for a
half hour before the picture, describing in cryptic language, the work
and tactics of his outfit. Foo-Fighters were at it again last night. This
is The Operations report: "Halfway between Wissembourg and Landau sighted
amber lights at 2000 feet. One light was 20 to 50 feet above the other
and of about 30 seconds duration. Lights were about a foot in diameter,
1000 ft. away and following Beau. Lights disappeared when Beau turned
into them.

Thanks for posting that info on Cobra Mist, This forum looked into Cobra Mist some time back with many posts, pictures and theories. It was discounted simply because CM had ceased to be by the late 70's.
The interference that CM suffered from was never identified but several unofficial souces suggested that it may have been caused by the Russians in an attempt to render it ineffectual. There was a lot of cat & mouse games going on behind the scenes during the cold war. One theory was that it was a Russian Sat that was responsible for the interference. I find this hard to believe as NATO would be fully aware of Russian sats, where they were in orbit and what they were doing.

Since Cobra Mist was dismantled in the 70's i cannot see a connection to it and the RFI. If the RFI had occurred while CM was still operational then a few eybrows may have been raised.

Thanks and how do we find out more? Observer how do you know they stoped all there work! You dont as it has been pointed out they transfered alot of the scientist to Bentwaters. Did you have something to do with this project and you dont want any attention paid to it. Your the only one who keeps saying it had nothing to do with it.

Realised you would be up to speed on Cobra Mist Obs.

Didn't know whether you had seen those docs from the States.

Interesting move though from Cobra Mist at Orford ness according to Hansard questions in the house, they moved the continued Radar development to RAF Brawdy in south Wales where the Submarine tracking seemed to start up at around the same time.
I think possibly the ELF radar was a forerunner of the HAARP system.
The ELF system needed a solid base for its ground based low frequency signals and the US ELF were based on pre cambrian rocks which is exactly what the Brawdy base was built on.,pre cambrian mountains. (Cambria is another name for Wales)
Next door to RAF Brawdy was the US NAVFAC base for tracking Submarines. The early ELF program was used to communicate with Submarines using the low frequency transmissions which would be picked up by the towed arrray sensor at the back of the Subs.
Reading between the lines I would think they were trying (experimenting) to detect these TAS using the ELF and finding that the clay based area (the ELF radar cables can be buried in the ground or run along the road on telegraph poles!) around the coast of suffolk wasn't giving enough amplification of the low frequency Signal hence the move to RAF Brawdy.
They did however need two ground bases for ELF radar and it is possible that the used Brawdy and another on the east of England.
The ELF stations in the US were 148 miles apart, both hidden in Forests.

50's and 60's witnessed the birth, early childhood development and growth of undersea surveillance; originally the Sound Surveillance System (SOSUS). With the 70's came technology upgrades both in shore and underwater systems; planning for new cable ships, super NAVFACs and the follow on to the Towed Array Sensor System (TASS), the Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System (SURTASS). The 80's realized consolidation of shore assets due to technology advances in underwater systems, arrival of the first SURTASS ships, delivery of the cable ship USNS Zeus, and the end of the Cold War; this last one to have repercussions that most of us did not anticipate. The 90's where we are today.

1974

* NAVFAC Brawdy Wales established- First "Super NAVFAC"
* NAVFAC Keflavik makes first detection on a Soviet Delta Class Nuclear submarine
* NAVFAC Ramey, PR changed to NAVFAC Punta Borinquen, PR

1995

PD 80 becomes PD 18 and designated ISR

* 19 April - Advanced Deployable System officially becomes the newest member of Integrated Undersea Surveillance System - designated a major program.
* NAVFAC Brawdy, Wales, UK ceased operations for equipment transition to JMF St Mawgan, UK.
* Joint Maritime Facility, St Mawgan, UK commissioned.

Footnote.
RAF Brawdy is now Cawdor Barracks., run by the British army.

(Another Cold War US Naval Facility, similar to RAF St. Mawgan's JMF, tracking Atlantic ship and submarine movements, was until 1995 based on the Pembrokeshire heritage coastline in South Wales next to RAF/RNAS Brawdy. That old Royal Navy Air Station (RNAS) at Brawdy is now described on OS maps as a "disused airfield". It is no surprise therefore that the base still has significant military presence, now in the form of the Army's Electronic Warfare Unit - No. 14 Signals Regiment at Cawdor Barracks.)

Another little bit of information.
The town of Haverford West, next Door to Brawdy was the site in 1977 of one of the biggest UFO flaps!

Hi John
No, i had nothing to do with Cobra Mist or any other activity in the area. I was just logically putting 2 & 2 together. If all the radar masts and control rooms were dismantled and removed then i would have thought it would no longer be working. In fact the descision to close it down was so sudden and unexpected that a lot of the staff had a sit in strike. After closure some of the staff were re deployed to RAF Bentwaters but i have no idea in what fields they were working in at BW.
If the RFI occurred whilst CM was still operational then i would be highly suspicious, but it didn't.

I saw the TV Doc on the Haverford West UFO, part of the mystery was caused by a local dressing up in a silver suit and helmet and scaring isolated house dwellers. Other aspects of the UFO sighting remain un answered.
Do you think that UFO sightings are linked in any way to areas of the country including Rendlesham where high tech Radar/ELF or other such technologies are/maybe being tested/used? This is how i interpret your postings.

Incidentally I think you will find David Clarke has some info on this case on his website.

On the 4th of February 1977 a UFO was sighted in Broad Haven, Carmarthenshire (Dyfed).

The unusual object was seen over a 20 minute period by a group of primary school children in a nearby field, (the field was visible from the school building).
Two weeks later, an object was again seen by a teacher at the primary school, at the same location, but only for around five seconds in torrential rain. She was about to notify others when it floated away with a humming sound. Later on the same day, two canteen workers noticed an object at again the same location, watched a figure climb out and move up the slope of the field. They refused to accept that they had seen a UFO, even though it was stressed to them that it would have been nearly impossible for any ordinary vehicle to access that location, given the terrain.

On the 10th February 1977, two youths spotted a UFO in a field near Haverfordwest grammar school. At some 100 yards from the thing, one of the boys, fearing for their safety, propelled a rock at the thing, but the UFO suddenly took off, i.e. it hovered for a short time, then vanished.

On the 19th April 1977, the owner of the Haven Fort Hotel, a Mrs. Rose Granville, was just about to retire at around 2 a.m., when she heard a strange humming sound. It sounded like the central heating, but on reflection she knew this was a different sound altogether. A flash outside the window made her look out, and there she saw a bluish sort of light pulsating and circling. She managed to get a close look at this UFO with some binoculars, and observed an oval object on the ground, and close by two strange figures in boiler suits. The weird thing was, they did not appear to have any faces.

On 10th February, two 12-year old boys witnessed a UFO in a field near Haverfordwest grammar school. It was a blue flashing light, seen at a distance of about 130 yards 940 metres). One of the boys threw a stone at it, whereupon, it took off; as it did so, an orange cigar shape, about 16 feet (5 metres) long materialised beneath it. It hovered for a while, before vanishing.

The 16th February, Graham Howells, a 13-year-old schoolboy from Pembroke Dock, saw a bright, metallic object hovering over Pembroke School as he arrived in the morning. Though the weather was quite misty, the boy claimed he had a clear view of the object, which was described as, having a dome in the middle, which was dark grey most of the time, but flashed to a dazzling white about every five seconds. It resembled a plate with a burnt fried egg on it. Around its rim, the "plate" had yellow-green lights with what seemed to me to be retro-rockets. The "plate" seemed to be revolving as well?I'm sure it wasn't a helicopter or a weather balloon.

On 13th March, Stephen Taylor, aged 17, witnessed a UFO at around 9 p.m. It was described as a glowing light with an orange halo around it. He raced over to a friend's house to tell them about it; yet, they did not believe a word of it. Soon, at around half an hour latter, he saw a dome-shaped UFO, just sitting in a field. The object was about 20 feet (6 metres) high, forcing the young lad to stop and look at it, when the figure of a tall man approached, wearing a semi-transparent suit and a kind of spaceman's helmet. "I was so frightened," said Stephen, "that I just took a swing at it and ran."

On the 7th April, Cyril John, aged 64, woke at around 4.45 a.m., having been disturbed by a strange orange light pulsating in his bedroom. It came from outside, and was reflected of the walls. Getting up to look out of the window, saw - to his amazement - that the entire sky was orange. Immediately outside here, I saw two silver-coloured objects. The first was like a very large Easter egg, about 4 feet (1.2 metres) in diameter, and it was swinging back and forth a little above and behind the chimneys of the house opposite. I then saw an object like a man in a silvery boiler suit about 40 feet (12 metres) above my window. It was at least 7 feet (2 metres) tall, and hung stationary, on a level with the "Easter egg". Its attitude was in the position of a free-fall parachute jumper?it hung motionless in the sky, face-downwards, for about 25 minutes. The egg then moved up and above roof-level and glided away sideways - as did the figure.

On 19th April, Mrs Rose Granville, proprietor of the Haven Fort Hotel, was just going to bed, at around 2 a.m., when she was disturbed by a humming sound. At first, she thought it to be the central heating, but then realised it was something totally unfamiliar. A bright flash outside her window caused her to look out, and with doing so, saw a bluish light circling around, pulsating as it went. Grabbing her binoculars, she witnessed an oval object resting on the ground, and near it, two figures dressed in "whitish", plasticated" clothing - like boiler suits; they had no faces.

When a local newspaper printed a photograph of a hoax spaceman, suggesting that this was what she saw - she wrote (understandably) an indignant reply.

With UFO reports like these occurring on a weekly basis, its not surprising - as early as 17th February - UFO investigator Randall Jones Pugh made a statement to a local news reporter: "There's certainly a minor flap down here." Latter, on April 28th, he told the same newspaper that he was now planning a book on the sightings, no doubt inspired to do so by a further - even more extraordinary series of events: the remarkable, yet chilling incidents reported by the inhabitants of Ripperston Farm - just south of Broad Haven.

http://www.socyberty.com/Paranormal/Is- ... ain.129045
The UFO activity is concentrated in a specific area of Wales. This triangular-shaped spot is bounded by Cardigan Bay to the West, and the Bristol Channel to the South. All of the extraterrestrial appearances have been mapped within this area, with Mid-Wales as the eastern limit.

Scientists are baffled by the weird goings-on, and theorize that the creatures from outer space are observing the local residents. They fear the day the eerie visitors may decide to use them as guinea pigs for their bizarre research.

At first, expert thoughts the mysterious visitors were spying on the many defense installations in this area of Wales. Because, within a tight radius, there are the Royal Aircraft Missile Range, a missile testing ground, air corridors for supersonic low-flying jets, and an American submarine tracking station.

But, according to the spokesmen at the defense operations bases, most of the extraterrestrial sightings have actually occurred outside the installations.

You can look at it that way certainly OBs. Still doesn't answer the question what the unidentified craft or light shows are.
Only it's proximity to military bases which may be intentional.
If they are experimental military then it would be convenient to keep within rescue distance of and under close containment by military personnel in case of difficulty who would of course be subject to the Official Secrets Act. Having said that the development has been going on an awfully long time!

On the other hand if it is a weapon such as a plasma beam that is controlled by running along the narrow Radar beam then it would have to be operated by military personnel. The only thing working against that theory is the constant sightings from the '40s/'50s to the present day. In that time some of the technology would have not existed, changed and developed. I gather the latest weapons, DEW, can not be seen at all.
