All the information that helped with my article came from UFOcasebook -

I will make the changes in the mean time i have put an anouncement on the end of my article saying the article may not be totally accurate.
Do you think BJ Booth of UFOcasebook needs to be informed?

I am not really sure. I am thinking of emailing him, although, I was looking through his article on the case, and I could not see many big mistakes.
In the beginning of BJ Tooth's article, he talks of aliens with domed heads repairing a crashed object (this I know to be false), he then goes on to say that it is not actually a fact, so I suppose that's OK.

I will have another look at Casebook's article, and yours, I will post again when I decide what I am going to do.

Okay and i will get to work correcting my article.
Thanks for your help.

There are many books out in the public domain which mis lead the readers. I picked up one yesterday called Conspiracies - Truth or Lies. It makes out that Gordon Williams the Base Commander stated that while attending the incident he talked to aliens in Rendlesham Forest. These books are sold at 100s of outlets around the UK as factual. Let the buyer beware, its not always the case.

Too many books

Postby Observer » Mon Apr 03, 2006 1:13 pm

Hi Schooner

You are so right concerning the number of books in the market place many of which are at best misleading and at worst down right make believe. Rendlesham like Roswell is beginning to suffer from too many band waggon jumpers. I also think that there are too many web sites on these famous incidents, each one putting a different slant to the events.

Still, its a free country so why not. To my mind, Georgina Bruni's book "You Can't Tell The People" is probably the best account to date even though i have found one or two minor inaccuracies concerning her detailing of the air bases histories etc.
I have said it before and i will say it again, stick to the people you trust and their accounts when investigating these events.

Hi Observer

Yes its a free world but what are the publishing/editing people doing about checking the work of the authors - back to school stuff with some of the books on sale.

Georgina Bruni has done a great job in bringing this incident to the wider population she has been thorough and to the point given all the threads and evidence to sift through. However, given all this there remains many differing versions of the incidents but not one unified/reliable account to what really happened.

The way I see it, as the incident becomes more popular the craving for new information increases so we seek it out where ever we can. The problem is we have reached a plateau kicking around the same old debris while the tumble weed brushes by.

May be what is needed is a fresh approach to what happened, a kind of critical path analysis.

Theres got to be a way to break the mirror and see the real evidence behind it. Its a shame we cant go back in time!

Too much info!

Hi Schooner

Sadly, publishers/editors have very little involvement in 'vetting' or editing books that are about to be published. The only time this may happen is for legal reasons. I know as i have published a couple of books in the past (nothing to do with UFO's).

Yes, its worth having a look at what new evidence comes along from the many published articles. We then need to sift through this evidence to see if it fits in to the criteria/jigsaw. Critical path methods are used by the Police and its not a bad idea to adopt this approach when collating all the evidence. This is what i am doing.

In a BBC look east interview with one of the Rendlesham forestry workers (not Vince Thirkettle), the worker was quite sure that "some thing fell off some thing". So here we have a local who has not included the light house as the cause but at the same time has not thought it to be a UFO. All these statements and ideas need to be followed up and either discounted or included in the critical path of investigation.

Hi Observer,

Sounds interesting and a good point to follow up.

Something fell off something sounds very much down to earth and more the norm than the extraordinary. I've heard of people living on flight lines complaining of all sorts of parts falling from commercial aircraft.

The area of the woods where the incident occured is very close to the flight line, assuming that aircraft landed east to west. Its very tempting to think that something was coming in to land at Woodbridge.

Do you think the locals were used to things falling off airbourne objects?

Still, this wouldnt explain what the witnesses saw on the nights of the incidents.

In the 1980 what was the state of affairs with transponders on aircraft?

Also do not pilots have to register flight plans with the CAA. Is this a worthwhile avenue to follow or has it been looked into already?

Did the USAF have to liaise with the CAA on flight plans?

You've got me thinking.

Down to earth

Postby Observer » Wed Apr 05, 2006 7:59 am

Hi Schooner

A friend of mine is a runway 'sweeper' at Heathrow, he drives a V8 Landrover down the runways checking for any debris that may have fallen off aircraft. Most of which is small pannels or trim parts. This may sound alarming to the general public but it does not usually have any safety significance. The RAF and USAF carry out regular FOD patrols of their airfields.

If something did fall off an aircraft into Rendlesham forest, the aircraft was way off line on its approach.

Military aicraft dont usually file flight plans with the CAA, but they do file plans with RAF Strike Command. Military transport aircraft are the exception. Fighters and bombers don't.

I personally, don't think something fell off, because all flying was suspended during the Christmas week. Yes, it may have been an aircraft not based at Woodbridge making an approach, but some how i don't think it was.

The mind boggles as to what had fallen off considering eye witness descriptions of what they saw. I mentioned this forestry workers suggestion as it was yet another local with a theory. We must always consider these.

Another local told me it was a downed Russian satelite!! Which does explain why the USAF and othe authorities got so secretive. I will however stick my neck out and say that the MOD and British government probably know no more than we do on the Rendlesham incident.

All these theories need looking at even if we think there is no truth in them. They are worth looking at just so they can be elliminated if that's the case.

Hi.

I have changed all the things you mentioned above about the articles if you could point out some other pieces of false information that would aide me a lot i think the article is getting more accurate now.

Thank you very much for your help!
