For those of you who would like to read up on the many theories concerning the Rendlesham Forest incident, using google, type in Cobra Mist. There are at least 3 pages of web sites. Jenny Randles book is reviewed where she makes a link with Cobra Mist and the UFO. I don't buy it but it is fascinating.
For the aviation buffs, there was an early experiment to fly the U2 aircraft out of Woodbridge, mainly because the base is so well concealed.
The aircraft that Col Halt may have been prevented seeing up close could well have been the Martin RB57 (licence built Canberra but with a high altitude wing span) This aircraft did make a visit to Woodbridge and was directly funded by the CIA for long range high altitude recci. There was a bitter 'turf' war going on which basically started in the late 50's between the USAF and CIA. It still smoulders today. This may have been the reason for Halt not being allowed near as the CIA hated the USAF officer classes.

Have you read Jenny Randles book on Time Storms it makes a good case, many of the witness statements lend themselves to what happened at Rendlesham Forest.
