Why not Carry on Rendlesham! Pity many of the original Carry On cast are dead. Could have had Kenneth Williams as A1C 'Bunny' Warren.; Bernared Bresslaw as A!C John 'Digger' Burroughs; Sid James as S/Sgt 'Biro' Penniston; Barbara Windsor (obviously still around!) as the glamourous Linda M-H; Kenneth Connor as Lt Col 'I've seen the lght' Halt...............Now that would be a film worth making!

Or maybe 'Blackadder V: An alien encounter with Stephen Fry - Lt Col Halt; Rowan Atkinson - S/Sgt Penniston; Tony Robinson - A1C Burroughs; Hugh Laurie - A1C Warren; Miranda Richardson - Linda M-H; Tim McInnerey - OSI investigator.... a tale of cock-up, cover up and diversion. As the OSI try to get to the bottom of what occured the investigation is constantly thwarted by cunning plans and intefering media hacks.....That would be worth six episodes at least.

There is still a half decent movie left in the wreckage. Squeeze all the possible theories into 2 hours, with everybody the central character speaks to telling a different version. Chinese whispers and pub gossip. Leave the audience so confused that no two people leaving the theater have the same perspective. That at least would be accurate.
My favourite scenes would be the Helo pilot, off his tits, taking out the runway lights....and East Gate Charlie. Closes with Lighthouse winking at us every 5 seconds throughout the whole end credit sequence.
Well...maybe before the Binary codes...
