So there appears not to be any mysterious 'missing' blade - it was lying the ground somewhere nearby

It is also surpising that the couldnt find the sheered blade straightaway, you would have thought it was in close proximity if it had just structurally failed.
I have not posted for a while as I consider that some members are involved in the cover up
( not John Burroughs) and would urge people to step back from squabbling over the tiny detail and look at the over all circumstances.
It would be great for a starting point for the witnesses to name everyone they can remember as present on the base at the time ( not even connnected to the RFI). Then from this point we can start to work backwards to find out what really happended.
Hearsay such as " I knew the bloke in the ARRS who said it was all a joke" is not useful.
We dont know who the bloke was or why he said it was a joke.
A number of old witnessess have come out from the woodwork--- some maybe plausible some not. A huge amount of detail in some areas and in others -- nothing--- Think about it. Somebody must have an interest in this to make them creep out after all these years so regularly? Ask yourself why? Look away from the fine detail. Something very strange happened here
