Was it Russian technology?

Hi all

I've been here before on this subject and deep down i'm hoping it was not Russian technology. Before we dismiss this scenario, we should at least take a look at what motives there were in the late 70's early 80's.

Both the US and Soviet Union were for want of a kinder word paranoid about each others technology, abilities, and espionage avtivities.
Both sides postured as to how advanced they were and how they could win a war.

Behind all this retoric and public image by both sides was some very clandestine spying going on.
It was in both their interests to have up to date information on each others nuclear strike capabilities.

Nuclear weapons based in the UK, and lets not forget that the UK also had its own stock piles at UK bases was probably very concerning to the Soviet Union, like Cuba was to the USA.

It was in the Russians interest strategically to make assessments of UK based nuclear weapons. Without a man on the inside so to speak they needed to spy on the bases that housed these weapons.

Did they make a craft to do this? Was the Rendlesham forest UFO one of these crafts, Did it break down whilst on a spying mission? Was it hushed up because the authorities knew this?

This is just another conspiricy theory and i cannot comprehend how they could make a craft that could manoeuvre as witnessed by so many people. Russian technology during the cold war was cloaked in secrecy and still is today up to a point regardless of Glasnost. They also had many top German scientists captured after the war as did the USA.

Some spying activities during the cold war have come to light more recently, but i suspect that other activities which may still have a useful purpose are kept secret. Was this one of them?

I personally cannot believe that had this been the case, this would not have got into the newspapers or on TV, somehow?
