One of the questions that has bothered me for a while about the RFI is why the Suffolk Police were called in preference to the MOD Police. Surely with any type of incident on or near Bentwaters/ Woodbridge the Mod Police would be the more logical choice?
Also I would be grateful if any members of SP or LE on the forum could outline what procedures were in place or what training was given to deal with the scenario of a downed aircraft in or around the base?
Surely the possibility of a aircraft falling short or over overshooting the runway had been considered on a busy flight line. Especially with the possibility of live conventional and nuclear weapons being present. I would have thought there would have been a checklist to follow and plan to implement? Even with a skeleton Christmas staff.
I would have thought that even as airmen were heading into the woods to check on reports of a possible air crash, phone calls would have been made and SAR procedures would have been at least considered?
I would have thought a part of Security training would be exactly this kind of scenario and SP would have trained alongside any kind of Hazmat, disaster prep or N.E.S.T. personnel.
Apologies if this has been raised before.
