Presumably this is the one that the rescue squadron were dangling from a helicopter on the night in question as a joke.

Let JB have a look.
Might be similar to his drawing I think but unless he was deaf at the time I wouldn't bother asking the obvious question!

Of course it could have been a silent Airship that was doing the dangling and not a Helicopter!

Now that is more like it!

I can just see Jim Penniston grabbing onto that for a ride through the forest!

LOL

Question - are the measurememnts of the landing marks given by Ray Gulyas accurate?

In an earlier post of mine I estimated that the distance between the marks was approximately 8 1/4 feet DBC. I have deen reliably informed that the DBC on the capsule legs was 8' 2".

If Ray Gulyas's measurements are inaccurate then this would give extra weight to the capsule theory.

If his measurements are accurate I would have to say that it then rules out anything of an alien nature having caused the RFI. I do not believe that the imperial system of measurement was adopted accross the galaxy (the tad, gnats and jiffy proved far more accurate). If it was a 12' DBC then this is a very human number (not a quote from Revelations... ) so this was a very terrestrial event.

(yes I know Jiffy is a measurement of time)

The USAF in those days would definately measure in Yards Feet and Inches, imperial, and possibly still do. Its worth checking to see if the British Police [Suffolk Police] were fully metric in 1980.
