One of the weapons the Nazis were developing was a energy beam weapon, they got as far as a prototype test weapon and were able to knock out vehicles by short circuiting vehicle ignition systems, but this was at short range which was under a 100yds. It was based round microwave technology.
A lot of the test equiment was captured by the British army at the end of the war and shipped to the UK.
