Thanks BTDT

So apart from the staff car, nothing on this particular night ( the 27th? ) that you wouldn't expect the SP to be seen driving/using?

Redsocks,
All I know is our AMU was evacuated on that night and I went thru East Gate and went home.
I believe we were contacted to return thru our "communication out", 'Comm Out', recall proceedure. IE:
Because a lot of us younger G.I.'s lived out in the local villages we had a recall proceedure in that the higher ranking and farthest outlying G.I. would get notified via, directly or by phone, (not all of us could afford phones), of an alert or recall or change in alert status. Then that higher ranking G.I would start his/her route toward base making contact per his /her recall roster/plan. In doing so, those contacted also had several G.I.'s to contact per their recall/ plan. Before you know it 95% of all the Aircraft Maintenance Unit would be at work being logged in (signed in). After every recall the process is reviewed for problems and fixed. I seem to remember someone contacting me at my appartment (flat) to tell me to be at work the next day same shift. Was the base stood down? I don't remember hearing anything of this. I did not frequent the base during the holidays. I was relaxing during my time off and enjoying the extra time during the Xmas, New Years holidays with my wife, baby and in laws at home and at their house on Waterloo Avenue, Leiston. Once we got back to work all was normal, business as usual except for the occasional rumor of "something happened in the forrest beyond East Gate". I personally knew of what I had seen. I was of the mind set to see what shakes out. We had heard about East End Charlie and all the crazy rumors you hear, so you play it by ear.
Sincerely,
BTDT

Hi BTDT

Did you see any evidence to suggest that a Fire crew had been sent out to the area? BTW - what was your Hogs number?

Cheers

Hey Wolf,
No, I did not see any fire response equip. I did not ever get a Hog to put my name on. Thank god, although I would have liked the prestigious award to be a DCC. I was the A1C specialist sheetmetal guy so I was always working on someones K's. When not working K's had to work on or launch and recover another DCC's jet. I was an assistant on several I can remember 00272, and 00191. We started with older 77's and 79's untill we were issued the new 80, 81's. But I was as I said not one who you could guarantee was not going to be tasked with an emergency repair or a bird strike or be sent TDY for the latter. I used to support/help work with and knew of a guy named whisteling Bob Musson I think that was his name he was a sheetmetal guy for the 91st. My boss was a guy named SSgt Skip Couture.
Sincerely,
BTDT

Redsocks,
Yes there was a movie theater it was on B/W on the right as you drove in on the main approach road. The Theater was on the right after the second or third block and then after was the Bowling Ally. The Bowling ally may have come latter say about 1983. Do you remember where the parking lot was where the discount car insurance was sold out of a small portable trailor? It may have been Geico but I'm not sure. If you drove by the parking lot on the left with the discount insurance trailor you have gone too far. I did not do much on Woody except go to the Woody Club so I can't say if there was a cinema on Woody. I don't think so.
