"So, in your opinion, Penniston and Burroughs are wrong about this time travel business then?"

JP and JB have recently arrived at this interpretation of what they witnessed: as a scientist (and applying Occam's Razor) I have a different opinion.

But it isn’t just a “recent interpretation”. Penniston has been going on about this since his hypnosis in the 1990s and he is quite specific about it not being ET. He recently put several long posts on the Justice for the 81st Facebook page, in which he says (and I quote, including mistypes):
>>
The Rendlesham Forest Incident, never was about UFOs.. For it was about a craft-of-unknown-origin. A craft which we the witnesses on the first night, knew is was clearly from our future. By the communication and from the separate hypnosis sessions. For it was us!!
<<

And again:
>>
Rendlesham and RAF Cosford are not about UFOs...... They are about time travel.....
One additional thought for the skeptics and all who read this.... During my 1994 hypnosis, where it describes "them" as being "us" from the future (50,000 years in the future). The one thing I say with clarity, for they left this clear in my mind, and this was done through the craft, which has activated communication... The statement is simple: "that even in the future, we are still alone, and we are still waiting, for first contact....."
<<

He also goes on about “disinformation campaigns” headed by what he terms “so-called "Top UFO Researchers" and self proclaimed ET "Guru’s" who pretend to know everything about extraterrestrials and UFOs”.

So no comfort for the ETHers here at all.

Ian: you do amuse me!
On the one hand you've spent 30 years dismissing the accounts of Burroughs and Penniston: now you use them as your authority for asserting that the RFI object was a time machine! LOL!
Neither of these gentlemen really have any idea any longer WHAT they saw: they have been painted into a corner and 'advised' to such an extent that they
even contradict each other! Like many of us, they are looking for answers but find only ridicule.
Like you and most other pundits, I wasn't there in 1980. However, I HAVE seen a number of 'UFOs' (for want of a better term!) and as an ex-pilot and Astronomy graduate, have reached my OWN conclusions about what I witnessed. By inference, and after a lot of reflection, I have decided on balance that many of the reported events refer to advanced devices that were not assembled here on Earth.

Thank you. It's mutual, I can assure you.

I just wanted to be clear: you are in the ET camp with Halt on this.

The differing accounts of what happened when Penniston and Burroughs first encountered the object on the ground still hasn't been explained.

"Jim Penniston and John Burroughs went to investigate the craft together. In an interview with Larry King on 9 November 2007, Jim Penniston claimed that he did a 45 minutes full investigation of the craft on the ground, touched the craft and took photos of the craft. John Burroughs apparently contradicts this in a separate interview in Robert Stack's Unsolved Mysteries. He states that after suddenly encountering the craft on the ground, "we all hit the ground, and it went up into the trees". The interviews with Jim Penniston and John Burroughs have subsequently been made available on Youtube."

Having turned 81 and being half blind, I've become very selective in distributing my time in pursuit of gathering evidence that will supplement my experience of an alien encounter that occurred in 1954 at RAF Mildenhall. I've made and have continued to make discoveries today that corroborate my experience... unlike the RFI situation. One thing I've learned is there is a close relationship between my encounter and the RFI encounters.

Some FACTS re RFI. I'm not going to elaborate on them.
The first episode: The initial reports were deliberately falsified or toned down by the witnesses themselves to avoid repercussions to career enhancement. Witnessing a UFO is not a good career move. Cabansag signed a statement but did not write it or contribute to it. A few years ago, Cabansag said Burroughs pulled a gun on the craft and immediately, both he and Burroughs were zapped! They suffered amnesia. On one of the videos of the anniversary, Burroughs was talking to Penniston and told him that Cabansag said that they all were zapped. Not true. Cabansag did not mention Penniston.

I drew a lot of information out of BTDT(been there done that)He described a build up of trucks and personnel across from the EAST GATE. He saw a command car out there. This was on Halt's night out. Whoever ordered the mobilization expected to have use of the command car for some purpose. It may have been Captain Verrano that told BTDT to drop what he was doing and leave. If the Top Dog of the bases was participating, what was going on? Remember this was a stealth operation. Very few outside of those involved were cognisant of it. Who brought it up before BTDT?

BTDT was like a fly in the ointment. He wasn't supposed to be there. A timeline can be drawn from his observations that cross Halt's and Warren's. Neville's revelations leading up to Halt's night out are important. Who gave the orders to go into the forest with light alls, which, after all, was British territory and responsibility. Add Neville to the time line.

To cut to the chase, an Alien visitation was scheduled and a 19 year old, Larry Warren got caught up in it.Warren suffered or should I say, was punished more than anyone involved in the RFI. Everything he said was used against him because, that's what the experiments done on him were designed to do. On one hand, Halt said Warren was not out there, and on the other, while working for the Pentagon before retirement, he visited the National Security Agency(NSA) where he asked to see the records of L. Warren. Soon after someone brought in a large folder which Halt was not permitted to examine. Warren always said some agency took his medical records.( The NSA was involved with UFOs)

J. Vallee wrote about RFI and said it was a government experiment on its own military personnel. The operation was a virtual reality experiment. Col. Halt had a meeting with J. Vallee in DC area. He thought he convinced Vallee that it was not a virtual reality show put on by the USAF. In my opinion Halt's epidode partly included a holographic show put on by the ET"s... The 'Eye of Horus', the heated fluids dropping down towards the field and the small craft breaking up into 5 pieces. No evidence was found. It's my opinion that these incidents were holographic. In sync with them, a huge craft observed by ,,, Bobo, who was in the observation tower at Bridgewater. observed small craft leaving the huge craft. More timelines to follow up on.

how do we not know that they have 'ALWAYS' been visiting us? maybe 1980 was a first contact date

Oh come on: use that lump of grey stuff between your ears!
If someone in the future were to invent a time machine, why would they go back to 1980, but no further????

Also note that Jim stated in 2003 (SciFi documentary on Rendlesham):
I don’t believe in extraterrestrials. Never have .. probably never will. The only explanation that I can come up with or .. a guess of it .. that this is nothing more than us experiencing some type of time travel or something like that. It sounds pretty bizarre. What else could it be?

So basically, Jim is a skeptic ..

OK, suppose that in the future someone who has read about the RFI manages to create a time machine and then decides the first thing he's going to go back and see is what happened in the forest in 1980, and by doing this causes the incident?

You're sort of missing the point, Wolf!
Doesn't matter whether our hypothetical time traveller visited Rendlesham first, last or in between: say he checked out 1980 first, he could then visit New Mexico in 1947, the Reichstag in 1936 and Bethlehem in 8 BC. We would always have known about all those visits!

but why would we? there must be a saturation point when someone realises that its been going on.... Imagine a cat in your garden, its been visiting the garden for years but you never knew, one day you find cat poo and realise that its always been there...

looking further into time travel therory i have drawn my own conclusions using available facts and logic. My conclusion is as follows...

it is now accepted that travelling into the past, although not known to be possible at this time, will not change events of the future. This is because it will create another timeline (or parallel universe).

now going on that (now widely accepted) theory, if someone were to travel backwards in time from the future, another timeline will have been created and the existing timeline will still be intact, meaning that we would not have known about the future time traveller.

Now, if the time traveller travelled to and created an event in our timeline (eg rendlesham forest) we would know about it because we would now be an alternative timeline

So following that logic, if time travel was possible in the future we would already know only if it had happened ONCE in our timeline (twice would create another timeline)

so mass tourism from the future is not possible!

right now pull me apart on that one and ill try and correct myself... :D

Time travel is an absurdity because the way the universe is constructed does not permit reversal of expended energy. For example, how many times do we see ice that has fallen from an ice wall return and travel up again? Time travel is just a fantasy to be seen in Hollywood movies, not reality. UFOs are nothing more than hysteria fueled popular media, which is why there never has nor ever will be any shred of serious evidence to substantiate them. I would go further and say that the UFO movement is a religious cult based on peoples' need to believe in powerful entities who look over and protect us.
