Still rather vague John? Adrian and i think we know where the lightalls were placed, but as said, we were not there, so will never know one hundred percent, which would be impossible for us. But you were there.

Let's try a different direction.

1.How many times (roughly) did you do guard duty at the East Gate? (and would have over looked that now non existent logging track into the forest)

I thought i had asked a clear simple question, but obviously i didn't make my question clear.

You on your first encounter crossed the road at the end of the East gate road, and almost immediately went into the tree line and forest thereon and had your first encounter. Correct me if i'm wrong?

On the second night of your encounter, did you go down that path? ie the one practically opposite the East gate road, from where you had stood (probably many times) on look out duty?..... or, turning right onto the road (at the end of the said East gate road), did you travel some (considerable) hundred metres further along that road BEFORE TURNING LEFT? onto which would have been the route 12? And as said, quite some distance apart. Please refer to the aerial map which will give a good idea of what i am saying. Granted, until then you really had probably never entered the forest before, but if it was me, i do know one thing, for such an eventful thing to have happened to me, i would know the difference of where i entered that forest, given that both possible entrances had quite distinct land marks and as said are/were a quite considerable distance from each other as to not have any doubt regarding any confusion in their location, or which one i took.

Try to think back John. You really are such an important individual in this case. And please don't think i'm giving you a hard time. I have the utmost respect for you, but as said, you were there and therefore hopefully can provide the other parts of the jig-saw puzzle which will help make this case all the more clearer.

I went in the same way both times! I was at the lightalls that they set up and it looks like they were in the same area we were in the first night. I had a short walk from the lightalls to meet up with halt on the 3rd night.

Thankyou John. You were not on route 12, i'm now sure of it. I'm meeting with Adrian on Thursday, which i've no doubt will generate other questions between us, which of course will need answers/explanations, but i personally feel for myself, (and cannot speak for Adrian), i have made many steps forward, since reading Adrian's postings that seem to mirror mine, and as said various and many personally long asked questions have suddenly slotted into place.

Some have said it's too academic and a waste of time trying to find out about the initial landiing site. I disagree. As said, it's purely a matter of interest for me personally, and we will never be able to EXACTLY pin point where it was, but it is irrelevant, but knowing the area it was in IS relevant to me. I was always told 'You cannot build a house on poor foundations.' Regarding this case, i believe that is true. I really do feel we have located the true initial landing site now, or more correctly the area it was in. It's just a matter now of reading and re-reading, and others who were involved and what they have said over the years will fit into place. That's what i believe, and hope.

How are you getting on with your idea for next year? How bigger venue do you need? I realise it is difficult for you being in the States, but many of us live in the area and can source for you etc. The old hospital where i worked (St Audrey's, and the place where my colleagues witnessed the lights over the forest at the time you had your encounters), has a staff club, which would be good for accommodating meetings etc, and also very close by to Rendlesham.

is not the one to the left of the field encountered at the edge of the forest, i.e. the Boast's house but one on the lane that runs along the bottom of that field. And the 'barnyard' animals that Halt referred to were in the field opposite, on the other side of the road? On p.213 of GB's book (Pan Books 2001 paperback edition) it mentions that Halt sees this house from the fence line at the edge of the forest, at the top of the field. Given the house was not on fire, then whatever was illuminating it must have been on the forest side, not the side towards the lane. This is puzzling because Halt makes no mention of anything that could be causing this. If the house was lit from within to the extent that it looked as if it were on fire, then it would be reasonable to assume it was occupied and that the occupants might have noticed a squad of US airmen traipsing by, especially if their animals started making a lot of noise.

If I've understood correctly, then this house is at sea level with the first field sloping down behind and the ground in front gradually rising towards Butley Abbey. Sudbourne is a couple of miles away, roughly north of east (where a sighting of an 'upside down mushroom' shape was reported). Is it reasonable to assume then, that the lights Halt commented upon, i.e. coming in from the south etc., and which Sgt Ball suggested were doing a grid search, were somewhere over Butley Marshes? Or perhaps even further to the east, moving over the northern part of Orfordness, roughly where the Cobra Mist antenna were sited. Burrow Hill would have blocked the view of any lights south of the Cobra Mist site. Given the assumed track of the object was approximately 090 or due east (p.60 Skycrash; Grafton Books (1986) paperback) then could it be possible that the lights Halt saw were aircraft of some kind waiting for whatever it was that hit the ground at the landing site?

Yes, the house to the right (Cuttings). And the cattle were in the field at the edge of the forest, not on the other side of the road? To my knowledge it was only one occupant (Vic Cutting) who lived in the house and at that hour of the morning, and who knows how deep a sleeper he was? Might not have heard a thing. I slept through the hurricane that wreaked havoc on the forest :) His house is some distance apart from the boasts. Granted their (the Boast's), dogs hearing is acute. If you approach the house from the left part of the field at night, yes they put up quite a commotion, but enter from the right side, ie Victor's side, they don't bark, or should i say not once during the many times i have visited the forest in the evening or after dark.

Thanks John, it's seems that Brenda had got a great deal of this right all them years ago. I'll try and listen in to your interview this morning.

I've been looking at the radio guide for today and Radio 4. I'm wondering if it is 'beyond belief' at 1630? That's the only one i can see that sounds like it would be the one. I shall listen in.

Then I wonder what caused his house to 'be glowing as if on fire' in a remote Suffolk field, in the early hours of a December morning? It couldn't have been the rising sun because sunrise was many hours later. The moon was in the third quarter so not particularly bright....at least I doubt if it would have been bright enough to cause that effect. As the glow was observed from the west then anything illuminating the house would have been on the west facing side of the house, between Halt and the house. A bonfire in the garden would have been burning for some hours and would probably have been nothing more than embers by that time and if it were buring with enough flame to illuminate the house, then Halt was have identified it as such and made a comment about a bonfire. An insignificant yet intriguing point.

Is it somehow linked to what LW saw? Is there something missing from the Halt commentary? Was there some kit in the farmer's field, lights of some sort, which the USAF had brought in for some purpose that nobody has mentioned?

Logged in, and within a matter of minutes, logged out, very rapidly!..... some religious website, at 16:30

There is only so much dry-heaving (ie gagging) i can do.

Not sure what programme you were on Radio 4, John? Let me have a browse through theTV/radio guide..... 'Daily service'...'Woman's hour.'....'shipping forecast.'..... 'The Archers.'.... Didn't they tell you? ie give some indication as what station you would be on, time etc, or some mention of a name of the programme??

Trust me, if it was me, i would want to know all of those details, before i opened my mouth on any radio station etc.

And why would some radio station in the UK, suddenly be interested in you?

I'm suspicious.

I don't know Andy maybe its because I'm trying to do a reunion next year. And maybe its because I have been on alot of different TV and Radio shows over the years. Maybe its because I was the only one out there on 2 different nights. And last but not least Dave Clarke let them know about me trying to put together a reunion and that I had some interesting things to say about the incident. Any other questions Andy?

Questions? .... Plenty, mate. Looking forward to meeting you,.... if you really are who you say you are. I will always keep an open mind, but until i actually see you face to face and recognise you, only then will i will believe it. Up until now, in my opinion..... for someone who apparently was there?....... you always seem so vague and seemingly evasive in your replies?

As said, might be totally wrong, but have always looked forward to meeting the real JP, LW, JB etc. They were there, know what they know/saw, and can provide answers to what i would consider simple questions.

As said, what time were you on Radio 4? What was the name of the programme?

So many 'Maybes.' I shall give another maybe. Maybe some people think others came down with the last shower of rain?
Maybe yes..... Maybe no :)

You claim to be doing a reunion? Haven't heard much about your arrangements? And considering you live in the States, and Rendlesham is thousands of miles apart? So tell us, what have you arranged so far?

I might be totally wrong here, John, or whatever it is you call yourself, but just do me this..............

post pics of you, and your life since 1980 onwards. You will be easily recognisable, and please don't tell me you have no pics, because everyone has.

Only then will i get 3/4 way towards starting to believe you are who you claim you are.

In the meantime, in my line of work, i'm well aware of a diagnosis called 'fantasist.'

Prove me wrong, then i will give a very sincere apology.

No, never been red-socks, or would ever wear them. And no, has never made his acquaintance, or a friend of mine. I can count my friends on one hand, and someone of that name is not one of them.

I look forward to your invite, however, i'm not holding my breath. Sorry.

Glad we got an apology, that was something, at least. Not sure how sincere it was though? You're not John Burroughs.
