does anyone on this forum know JacSheridan (not sure if its his Real name) We(my 2 sons and myself) met him on walk at Rendlesham some years ago now. He had some fascinating theories... PORTALS,different dimensions in time, EM fields etc. I DO wonder if like on Long Island OTH Radar(Death Beam) research at nearby Orford Ness could hav affected our Space Time continum?? im no scientist But TRY hard to und'stand...Could "things" seen be "coming THROUGH" rip in time? NEVER HAD A PLACE TO ASK ALL MY QUESTIONS :D

This forum has discussed these matters at great length some time ago and firstly, the Portal/time thing is beyond what main stream science understands or comments on, so it will remain on the fringes of science and open to any interpretation by any one who wants to make comment on it. There is an awful lot of pretend scientists out there in the UFO world which does not do the movement any favours at all.

Secondly, the the old tunnels and under ground facilities saga, Graham Haynes who helps run the BWCWM at Bentwaters is probably the best authority on the subject as he knows the airfield intimately and he is on record as saying there were no under ground facilities at the base with the exception of the command post.
Puddlepirate has discovered some man hole covers in Rendlesham Forest adjacent to RAF Woodbridge and these may be access points for the supply services to the base, but as yet we don't know exactly what they were for. We are just guessing.

Thanks for the replies ST and Obs.

It seems Steve R La Plume, who is quoted on the Twin bases site, had a sighting a week or so after the other Guys.

Could be this Guy as you suggest.

I've think I've got his E mail address somewhere if any one wants a chat with him. If not I'll put any questions to him if you want and / or ask him if he wants to join this site, as apparently he knows Larry W from their days there.

My last word on whatever JR signed is that what she wrote was based largely on conjecture and rumour, not fact copied verbatim from official documents obtained clandestinely. Let's face it, she or indeed anyone of us, could have written anything at all and provided it wasn't libellous or included photocopies of secret documents stolen from wherever, MoD wouldn't have batted an eyelid. To have made any comment on what JR had written about nuclear weapons (if she did) would have embroiled MoD in controversy so they would have said nothing, much less ask her to sign anything. The suggestion there was a D notice is interesting though because they were only used to curtail the publication of information, the unauthorised disclosure of which would cause either serious injury or exceptional grave damage to the defence of the nation. If indeed a D notice was issued you can forget odd lights because it means something serious happened. Is there any proof that a D notice was issued?

Re underground facilities, let's not forget that Churchill ordered chemical weapons to be stored at airfields that were near to woodland - all the way down the east coast from Scotland to Kent. These were to be kept safe from the Luftwaffe so must have been stored underground and almost certainly in the woodland itself, not on the bases. Therefore, the must have been and might still be, an underground storage area in Rendlehsam forest. Also, there is something underground that runs eastward from the end of Woodbridge runway, along the ride opposite Folly House towards the farmer's field. It's there and you can see it for yourself if you visit the forest. If I could work out how to post an image on this forum I'd include a couple of images I took in May this year.

Apologies PP,
I neglected to include you in my list of thankyou's on my last post.

Not having got Georgina's Book I don't know if the D notice mentioned is hearsay or as a result of an interview with this Guy(Major Edward Drury).

But I'm pretty sure there won't be a record of any such edict anyway!

Somewhere I seem to remember JR mentioning the same thing about a D notice. Whether it was in an interview or in one of her books I don't know. Was GB quoting JR's mention of a D notice?

Perhaps Nick Pope can shed some light on the subject. He must have been aware of such sanctions. Anybody got his number?!

Thanks Obs.

I will definitely do that. Whilst on the subject thought some might be interested in the following info. Seems there is a latitude or degree of openess that is subject to the DA secretary's discretion as regards implementing a D or DA notice.

Just hit the links for the individual and five standard DA notices.

http://www.dnotice.org.uk/the_system.htm
The Defence, Press and Broadcasting Advisory Committee oversees a voluntary code which operates between those Government departments which have responsibilities for national security and the media; using as its vehicle the DA-Notice system.

http://www.dnotice.org.uk/history.htm#from_d_to_da
In 1971 a major change was made by cancelling all existing D-Notices and replacing them with standing D-Notices to give recipients sufficient guidance on subjects in which considerations of national security could be involved, to enable an editor to decide whether to publish, spike or seek advice from the Secretary. There were eleven such notices covering Defence, Civil Service, Nuclear, Radio and Radar, Intelligence, Security and Communications matters and a twelfth included at the specific request of the Australian Government. These twelve were later further refined and reduced where specific items where concerned, eg in the case of military aircraft and aero engines. The Committee's title was changed first to the Defence, Press and Broadcasting Committee, and in 1993 to the Defence, Press and Broadcasting Advisory Committee, when the 6 standing D-Notices were renamed DA-Notices (Defence Advisory Notices). In May 2000, these were further updated and reduced to the present 5 notices

Simple question although not I suspect an easy answer.

Who owns the area where the manhole covers are and if they are accessible why can't we open one up, after asking permission to access one?

I don't know if these will help, but here goes.

This was taken before the concrete cover was placed on top.
It is not visible on the photo from what I can see, but I recall seeing several rusty ladder rungs, similar to these. An access shaft of some sort?

This one, which looks like a drain cover to me, is towards the end of Route 10.

why can't we open one up

Good point. I doubt the concrete lids (on the smaller shafts) would be heavy. A Crowbar should do it!

In case I or someone else would like to do the honours of writing to the Forestry Commission have you Admin or anyone else got a grid ref for this area and so we aren't duplicating, has any one (in the know) had prior knowledge or been down these manholes in the past?

Re previous questions on D and DA notices I received the following reply from Nick pope this morning.
Quote as follows;

'I worked for the MoD from 1985 - 2006, so the Rendlesham Forest incident pre-dates my employment. That said, I inherited the paperwork on this case and there was no indication that a D-Notice had been used. Nor - if one had been used - was there any reason why that information should not have been on the file.

The use of D-Notices/DA-Notices is a popular motif in ufology, but to my knowledge, one has never been used on the subject of UFOs. This has been confirmed by Rear Admiral Nick Wilkinson. See his article in Pennant Magazine, about halfway down the following link:

http://www.dnotice.org.uk/articles_speeches.htm#8

I hope this is helpful.

Best wishes,

Nick Pope

Rear Admiral Nick Wilkinson Quote as follows;

'In this regard, let me state categorically that there is no DA-Notice on stories about UFOs!'

Cheers

And I see he goes on to say: "More sinister, however, during the foot and mouth crisis, were queries from people involved who were allegedly told (by nameless officials) that they should not talk about their experiences because ‘it was all covered by a D-Notice for reasons of National Security’ – which of course it was not."

These Men in Black get everywhere, don't they? Was foot and mouth introduced by aliens, do you think?

At least, a useful and unambiguous answer from 'Pin Prick' Pope and well done to Robert for obtaining it.

A 'D' (D = Defence) notice would not have been issued for a UFO - but it would have been issued to prevent information relating to a very sensitive defence / national security incident from being published. Therefore to look for a D notice in relation to a UFO won't reveal anything, especially as the RFI was defined as being of no defence significance. If any such notice was issued at all then it will be elsewhere within MoD. Notwithstanding the 30 year rule, if anything has been released into the public domain at the National Archives, then it might be in the AIR or CAB series or whatever series holds info on D notices. Need to think much wider than UFO's....

I got the impression on reading the D and DA notice links, that there is a strong suggestion of a discretionary option that is left open to the Editor of the Publishing material and no finite line is drawn unless blindingly obvious security has already been compromised.

In other words they maybe some cases where a suggestion that it might not be a good idea to run a story is sufficient rather than 'serving' a mandatory D or DA notice.

That being the case a chat with the Editor over lunch would negate the need for any paper work don't you think?

Help Please.
Does Anyone Know the following Book by Ralph Noyes? (apparently about Bentwaters) and does anyone know this person who seems to have done some initial investigating of RFI?
And how about that last line for a sensational revelation!

Robert

Someone is bound to make a movie about it eventually. We made a pretty good episode of the TV show 'Strange But True?' all about the Bentwaters case and got all the main witnesses together for the first time. That was in the mid l990s and it got the best viewing figures we had in the series. Around 12.5 million if I recall. Bet Endemol would love to get that many this week.

Oh and look for a very interesting novel called 'A Secret Property' written by Ralph Noyes. I knew Ralph well. He and I pushed the MoD hard to try to get the truth out in the mid 80s via various top level people. Raph was an ex MoD under secretary and the novel is a barely disguised take on the weird things that went on around Bentwaters. It even features a space shuttle flight and the things that occur aboard because of what was happeing down on the base.
