You have to remember that Electro-Magnetism (EM) is
everywhere. Almost everything that we refer to as ‘modern technology’ is based on EM. From the chips controlling my computer to the radar stations sensing incoming planes. So yes, you’ll find lots and lots of stories (and nonsense) about research on EM and naturally there is also interest from the military.
The reason is the poorness of our knowledge: There are only four fundamental forces in nature and EM is the only one we have learned to manipulate. Almost all our high-tech stuff is build on this ability. Even our chemistry is based on making and breaking the EM bonds between atoms.
The other three fundamental forces are: Strong Interaction, Weak Interaction, and Gravity. (

Our current knowledge of physics does not provide feasible ways to manipulate them with the same ease as Electro-Magnetism.
What would happen if we ever find out how to manipulate Gravity? It will open a whole new world of possibilities, one of them being the ability to manufacture fast flying machines without exhausts that can make rapid, sharp angular movements..
