Aircraft at Woodbridge and Bentwaters

Hi All
For those of you who have read Geogina Brunis' book 'You Can't Tell The People', there is a small mention of one conspricy theory where the USAF had captured (how one wonders) a Russian Tupolev TU 20 'Bear' bomber. It was then kept in a hanger out of sight at either Woodbridge or Bentwaters. It was later flown to the US. Well the TU20 is approaching the size of a B52 and there was never a hanger on either base large enough to house such an aircraft!

In another section of her book she mentiones an F100 Super Sabre that was in a hanger at Woodbridge but all writing in the cockpit was in French.

F100's were operational from both bases in the late 50's and early 60's along with the F101 Voodoos. Its worth mentioning that the French airforce were operating the Dassault Super Mystere at that time and it was almost identical in shape to an F100 Super Sabre. For the untrained eye it could easily be mistaken for an F100. It also does not surprise me if there was a Super Mystere at one of these bases as at that period of time there was some cooperation going on between the US and French Governments with military aircraft.

Lastly, one source has told me that a TU20 Bear was not captured but its crew had defected to the UK and there was a big argument as to whether it should land at a US Airbase or a RAF base. The US won the day. I don't believe this theory as it would never have been kept secret for that long.

The Mysteres were used as BDR frames on BentWood- http://w.airliners.net/photo/Untitled/Dassault-MD-454-Mystere/0508975/L/&tbl=photo_info&photo_nr=1&sok=WHERE__(photo_date__%3D_'June_11,_1987')_&sort=_order_by_photo_id_DESC_&prev_id=&next_id=0508974

I was told a story about there being a large aircraft with twin props on Woodbridge by a friend of mine. He described it as having a polished metal skin and siad there was a large SP presence around it, but there is no buildings big enough to hide a Bear on Woody or Bentwaters and I'm sure a local spotter or two would have picked it up.

Hi Wolf

Given that no TU20 was seen on the ground and taking a somewhat abstract view, could it have landed to collect something belonging to the Soviets that the USAF had found in the forest and which the US/UK govts had agreed to return? That would only require a very brief stop and the incursion into UK airspace would be expected/authorised - but the RAF would almost certainly have escorted the inbound / outbound flights through UK airspace.
