Skeptics' corner

Nothing about Rendlesham here please.

Skeptics' corner

Injecting a bit of reality into the UFO world, the latest edition of Tim Printy's SUNlite newsletter is now online here
http://home.comcast.net/~tprinty/UFO/SUNlite2_3.pdf

And always good value is Kentaro Mori's informative blog, headlined this week by an investigation into some recurrent UFO sightings from Turkey featured widely on YouTube

Would you have guessed what they were?

Here’s the latest issue of the online UFO magazine SUNlite
http://home.comcast.net/~tprinty/UFO/SUNlite3_1.pdf
It contains some reflections by Peter Brookesmith on the Rendlesham case, including this choice quote from Col Sam Morgan, who succeeded Ted Conrad as Halt’s boss:
“Halt was over reacting when on the scene and it was recorded on a pocket tape recorder. I got this tape and... [it] started a story which, for Halt, shined a light on him. He could have addressed the facts or he could have inflated the story. He chose to inflate the story. Soon the story was much bigger than he expected and he does not now have a graceful way out."

Which puts Halt's dilemma rather well, I think.

You’ll also find an amusing account of how TV programmes about UFOs are made, in this case regarding Area 51. Read it and think of The UFO Hunters...

There’s also a detailed analysis of the so-called Battle of Los Angeles, an event in UFO history probably better known in the US than in Britain but an instructive example of how myths are born and grow.

Following your decision not to attend the recent conference and air your skepticism to the main proponents of the RFI case in person, you have no credibility any longer in my view.

The very fact that you respond to your own unanswered posts merely serves to underline this.

If you have a scintilla of self-respect I would suggest you refrain from posting here any more. I wish you no ill will, but your lack of conviction is now entirely palpable. You give skeptics a bad name.

Credibility and the RFI mentioned in the same sentence

I don't know if you took the time to read the article by Peter Brookesmith, but it is the first serious attempt ( as far as I'm aware ) to look at the actions of those involved and whether or not they were within legal rights to investigate the unexplained lights off base. Interesting quotes from Morgan and Conde too :)
