So Ian!
You've finally abandoned the lighthouse as the cause of the alleged 'sweeping beam' and replaced it with strobing runway lights! Classy!

In my opinion, SW and many others have amply discussed their explanations of the RFI.

There were up to 21 high intensity lights that created a sequential strobing flash pattern that rolls towards the runway threshold thus aiding the landing aircrafts glide path. I cannot see these as the light mentioned by the Suffolk Police.
Were they even switched on over Christmas.

I do recall seeing one bright light from Bentwaters when I went to the site in 1983. Very possibly the lights were not switched on at Christmas 1980, as you suggest, but even if they were they would not be in the right direction, nor would they flash every 5 seconds like the light Halt saw. Which leaves us with that flashing light Halt reported in the direction of Orford Ness...

Actually it was me not Ian who talked about Strobe lights, get your facts right before laying into some body.
Could you please give us your theory on the RFI, it might give us some new directions to follow.

Let's have one more go!
This is an ACTUAL photo looking across Capel Green using a t/p lens. Does anyone really believe this distant lighthouse was the origin of the sweeping light and vertcal beam described? Seriously?

Yes, actually. Not only is a rational, reasoned argument but it has a whole lot more basis behind it that a lot of other hypotheses (which have, no doubt, been thrown around on here)

This photo doesn't back up anything you're saying.

Dave, have you been to Rendlesham and seen the 'sweeping' beam of the light house?

Yes. I have been to Rendlesham, at night, on several occasions and seen Orfordness lighthouse from there.

Anyone who actually visited the forest before the lighthouse was decommissioned is aware of a few facts:
The light seen from the forest:
Was a dim, distant flashing red light
Was invisible from within the forest
The Orford Light had a screen to prevent its main beam shining inland
Anyone who says differently has an agenda!

No: as a matter of fact I don't, 'dude'!
Unlike the rabid 'anti' crew, I am open minded.
I DO believe in the reality of the UFO phenomenon, but I don't necessarily believe everything that the cultists promote. but I do, however, have a strong aversion to being patronised and lied to by self-proclaimed experts who have nothing to add to the debate but cynicism....

They want you to go away. At the end of the day most of the the people who are attacking the incident on this pg have never even been to the forrest. Ridpath and Clarke do hit and run journalism they both had there chance in Dec to talk to us and they did'nt show up. Jim and I were out there doing our jobs Clarke and Ridpath have made this there job. I'm not trying or are you to prove if it was ailiens or not ailiens. What I'm trying to do is put this all together may the chips fall where they may. Thanks for all your help. John
