Hello everyone...

Postby BobbyFischface » Thu Jun 26, 2008 9:56 pm

Hi all,

I'd been browsing through this (excellent) website and forum for a few days, so thought I should do the decent thing and say hello.

I'm Bob Fischer, and I'm a writer working for Hodder & Stoughton. My first book is due out next month, it's called 'Wiffle Lever To Full!' and it's a travelogue based on sci-fi conventions, as I'm a devoted fan of the Doctor Who, Star Wars and Blake's 7 school of science fiction!

I'm now tentatively trying to persuade them to let me write a second book, and what I really wanted to do was write something about things that really scared me as a kid, and go back to confront them as an adult. And one of them was the prospect of UFO contact - not helped by the fact that I had a sighting in 1987, when I was fourteen. And it's kind of preyed on my mind since! I'm happy to describe it in more detail if anyone is interested, although I suspect you've all heard a lot of similar accounts... :)

My books are meant to be fun but respectful, and I'm hoping to come down to Rendlesham Forest at some point in the next few weeks in the name of research. Any pointers as to things I should definitely look for, or people I should try to meet woud be really appreciated - but no problem if not, I feel like I've gatecrashed your nice little community a bit!

But it is nice... and there you go, I'm out of the closet now. Hello all.

Bob

Hi Bobby,

Your book sounds quite interesting. Did you go to the Star Wars CE last year at Excel?

You might want to get in touch with Brenda Butler, who was the first person to investigate this case. She sometimes takes people out into the forest at night, and apparently all kinds of spooky stuff is seen. I haven't had the pleasure as yet, though I've seen some of the photos, but I think there are a couple of forum members who have and will probably give you better guidance than me.

Good luck
Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Thanks! All the conventions I went to are from 2006, so my Star Wars thing was a little signing day in Cardiff when I hid under a table from Dave Prowse, and was forced to my knees by two stormtroopers in the Marriott Hotel car park.

Brenda sounds great, though! Yeah, if anyone has any more information, or is planning a trip down there, then let me know and I'll love to tag along if you'll have me. I'm pretty inoffensive and will bring biscuits. :)

Cheers,
Bob

Yeah, saw that! Thanks. I'd love to come along if I'm free, but only if everyone's sure I'm welcome. I don't want to step on anyone's toes if you guys all know each other.
