More than one witness has mentioned 3 silver suited people. If these were the base firemen and i have no reason to suspect they weren't, where is their report on this incident?
We had almost identical silver suits in the RAF and it was for aircraft fires. They were used so firemen can get in close for rescue and foam laying without getting burnt.
Also, if these firemen were out in the forest they would have driven there in a base appliance [fire engine] and it would have been standard practice to call 2 out. So where were these parked, and were their blues flashing? Also, no body has ever mentioned fire engines or sirens.
There will be a chain of command within the base fire service, so we need to investigate this more.
Lots of unanswered questions here.
